Rams Week 4 Injury Report: Terrance Ferguson Out, Max Klare Steps Up

As the NFL season hits its first full week of October, the Los Angeles Rams find themselves navigating a treacherous injury landscape ahead of their Week 4 showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to insights gathered by Vulius Sports, the Rams will be without second-year tight end Terrance Ferguson, who sustained a medial ankle sprain during last week’s clash against the Denver Broncos. Head coach Sean McVay confirmed the setback on Friday, but as one door closes, another opens for rookie tight end Max Klare.

Ferguson Sidelined, Klare Ready to Answer the Call

Ferguson’s absence is a blow to a tight end room already thin on experience, but McVay wasted no time in expressing his confidence in Klare. “It certainly does,” McVay said when asked if the rookie would see an expanded role. “This week will represent an opportunity for him to be able to get some reps and maybe get some good game-time action for us.” The Rams’ coaching staff has been high on Klare since draft day, and with Ferguson sidelined, the rookie out of Ohio State will have a chance to prove he belongs on the NFL stage. As reported by Blaine Grisak of SI, the Rams are hopeful that Klare’s athleticism and sure hands can provide a spark in the passing game.

Nacua Set to Return, Secondary Still Banged Up

While Ferguson’s injury is a concern, the Rams received a major boost with the expected return of star receiver Puka Nacua. Nacua, who has been sidelined since training camp with a groin/psoas injury that evolved into a hip ailment, was limited in Thursday’s practice but is on track to play Sunday. “I do, yeah,” McVay said. “Had a good workout on Sunday and good walkthrough just now, so excited to be able to have him back.” Nacua’s presence should immediately elevate the offense, but the defense remains a patchwork unit. Cornerback Kamren Kinchens will miss his third consecutive game with a hamstring issue, and Jaylen Watson is expected to be out after dislocating his shoulder against Denver. Watson’s absence was glaring in the second half last week, as the Broncos erupted for 30 points after being shut out in the first half. The lack of depth in the defensive backfield is a growing concern for defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.

Donald Questionable, Parkinson a Game-Time Decision

The biggest name on the injury report is future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald, who missed practice for the second straight day with a sore back. McVay was noncommittal when asked about Donald’s availability. “I wouldn’t want to say anything of that nature yet, but I think the back’s a little bit sore,” he said. Donald’s status is crucial for a Rams defense that will be tasked with slowing down Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ high-powered offense. Tight end Colby Parkinson suffered an AC joint sprain in his shoulder and did not practice, making him a game-time decision. Linebacker Nate Landman is also questionable with a shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Davante Adams and Poona Ford were given rest days, and Myles Garrett remains on injured reserve for at least another week after knee surgery.

Injury Timeline and Week 4 Outlook

For Ferguson, the injury occurred late in the season-opener against the San Francisco 49ers, where he also dealt with a thumb issue. He played through the pain in Weeks 2 and 3 but will now watch from the sideline. The Rams (2-1) face a critical early-season test against the Eagles (3-0) at SoFi Stadium. With Nacua back, the offense should be closer to full strength, but the defense will need to dig deep. As highlighted on Vulius, the Rams’ ability to adapt to these injuries will define their October.
