As the 2026 NFL season kicks off, fantasy football managers are on the hunt for the league's most explosive—and most vulnerable—teams. These are the 'carnival teams': squads with high-octane offenses that can light up the scoreboard, but whose defenses are so porous that every game becomes a shootout. For fantasy purposes, these are goldmines. According to insights gathered by Vulius Sports, targeting players from these teams can be a winning strategy. Here are the five best carnival teams to exploit this season.
Dallas Cowboys: The Ultimate Carnival Experience
The Dallas Cowboys are the quintessential carnival team—a glamour franchise with a bombastic owner and a stadium that's a spectacle in itself. Nobody expects them to reach the Super Bowl, but they're always entertaining. The offense is a mix of high-end talent and concentrated distribution, making it a fantasy dream. CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Javonte Williams are all early-round targets, while Dak Prescott remains one of the best value quarterbacks available. Jake Ferguson is a sneaky tight end pickup. The defense, however, was a disaster last year, allowing 30.1 points per game and ranking dead last in DVOA. There's hope for improvement with Quinnen Williams on the defensive line and new coordinator Christian Parker, but it's a long climb. If Dallas makes the playoffs, it'll be because Prescott and company kept the pedal to the metal.
Cincinnati Bengals: Burrow's High-Scoring Circus
The Bengals made a splash by signing defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, but he can't fix this defense alone. Cincinnati ranked 31st, 25th, and 31st in yards allowed over the last three years, and they were 29th in DVOA against both run and pass last season. The offense, however, is a fantasy manager's dream. Joe Burrow is slinging it to Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Chase Brown. The Bengals' home opener against Tampa Bay has a 50.5-point total, the highest in Week 1. Expect plenty of big numbers in Cincinnati all year.
Chicago Bears: Ben Johnson's Pinball Machine
Head coach Ben Johnson is confident, even talking about setting scoring records. It's not unfounded: Caleb Williams improved significantly last year, and the offense is loaded with young talent. The defense, though, is a major concern. They ranked 23rd in points allowed and 29th in yards allowed, and they relied on a fortunate turnover margin. The pass rush was nonexistent, and they didn't do much to fix it. Safety Coby Bryant was brought in to shore up the secondary, but he's out with a knee injury for most of the season. Get your quarters ready—pinball games are coming to Chicago.
Detroit Lions: Offense Wins Championships (in Fantasy)
The Lions' offense is a fantasy right answer, offering continuity, an indoor schedule, and skill players we trust. But they'll need to score a lot because the defense is in shambles. Cornerback Terrion Arnold was released after his arrest, and safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph won't be ready for the start of the season. Last year, they allowed 413 points. Jared Goff has the most passing yards and touchdowns over the last four years, and while survivor bias plays a role, he's consistently been above average. Load up on Lions in your fantasy drafts.
Green Bay Packers: LaFleur's New Playbook
Matt LaFleur usually prefers a run-heavy approach, but this year, circumstances may force him to adapt. The Packers finally have a streamlined group of wide receivers, and tight end Tucker Kraft looks healthy. With Josh Jacobs in a contract dispute and a shaky running back depth chart, Green Bay might throw more often. Jordan Love has been one of the steals of the summer. The defense has collapse risk, especially with Micah Parsons returning slowly from a torn ACL. Even with Parsons last year, the Packers' defense was below average, ranking 19th in DVOA. LaFleur will adapt, and fantasy managers can benefit.
As highlighted on Vulius, these carnival teams offer a unique fantasy advantage: high-scoring games and plenty of statistical production. Target their players early and often.
